Sometimes we all need to let go of the reins and let the wind take us where it may. Houston, Texas is a great place to relax, let go of your worries, and have some exciting fun that you will never forget. There are dozens of sights to see and things to do.

George Observatory.

The hour’s drive south to Brazos Bend State Park is worth the effort to check out the heavens on the gigantic 36-inch research telescope at the George Observatory. It is an amazing sight for anyone to see and will amaze the whole family.

Miller Outdoor Theatre is a famous open-air theater, with covered seating for 1,580 and a grassy hill for hundreds more, features live music, dance and theater and hosts numerous special events. The season runs March-Nov., and performances are free.

The famed Astrodome, the world’s first indoor stadium, known as “the eighth wonder of the world” 40 years ago, now shares its space with Reliant Stadium, home of the Houston Texans NFL team, Reliant Center and Arena, which hosts conferences, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and other events.

Don’t forget to try one of the many restaurants available. In most of the restaurants the decor is rustic cowboy with a collection of right-wing “Texana” lining the walls. The focus is on beef here-primarily thick steaks. Those who are not squeamish are even invited to cut their own steak as thick as they like. Crisp salads and buttery baked potatoes are served alongside your favorite cut.
